Recognizing the need to strengthen global communication among students and promote
proficiency in the English language - the lingua franca of the modern world - the Junior English Olympics (JEO) was established as a non-profit organisation in 2020. The
International Olympiad aims to foster intercultural understanding and lifelong friendships by challenging young people from diverse backgrounds to showcase and sharpen their knowledge and skill in the English language through an engaging global competition. By bringing students and educators together from across nations, JEO hopes to nurture the next generation of global citizens.
JEO is open to students in grades 1 to 6, with four levels of competition. The Olympiad consists of two rounds: a Preliminary (Local) round and a Final round. Students who qualify in the pre-selection round will be eligible to participate in the Final Round.
